Quite simply, the Costa de La Luz is just what it says. Light. This stunning South Andalucian coast is open, uncrowded, natural and still very 'Spanish'. It's outstanding beauty and feeling of space is what drew us there and inspired our company name. This is where we began selling property in Spain and today we still rate this area very highly.
Geographically, the Costa de La Luz sits across two provinces – Cadiz and Huelva, the western end at Ayamonte borders with Portugal's Eastern Algarve and offers spectacular views over the river that forms the border between the two countries. At the far eastern end of this expansive coast are Tarifa – a surfing paradise and historic Cadiz.
Despite bordering the Costa del Sol, the Costa de La Luz could not be more different in terms of what it offers. This Costa is unspoilt, undeveloped and still very much 'hidden Spain'. Traditionally a key destination for Spanish holidaymakers, particularly during August - The Costa de La Luz is rich in natural beauty, wildlife, history and a whole host of leisure opportunites from windsurfing to wine and sherry tasting. Towns such as Chiclana and Ayamonte, whilst historic and atmospheric are lively and great places to eat out and enjoy nightlife Spanish-style. This is also an excellent area in terms of golfing, with some high quality courses such as Castro Marim and Islantilla Golf.
Property represents good value in that buying here really does present you with a whole list of positives. The Costa de La Luz is not overdeveloped, the climate is excellent year-round, there is so much to do and see and the area is very accessible travel wise...and last but not least, the beaches really are phenomenal. This is a refreshing and enjoyable holiday destination, with good rental prospects, in particular from Spaniards. You won't find a Brit pub in sight and will definitely need your phrasebook. There are direct flights from many UK airports and you can choose to fly to either Faro in Portugal (easy access over the river bridge to the Western Costa de La Luz), Jerez or even Seville airports.
