Information About Bodrum Peninsula
The Bodrum Peninsula on Turkey's Aegean Coast is one of the most exciting areas for visitors and is quickly becoming a property hotspot.
Bodrum itself is a cosmopolitan town, centred on a magnificent port, it is a beautiful place to visit and explore.
Is the birthplace of Herodotus and is a uniquely diverse holiday resort. A favourite holiday haunt of Turkey's rich and famous, the town is a historic settlement with plenty of ancient attractions, it is said that two meters under the streets of Bodrum lies 5000 years of history.
In the city centre, you'll find the remain of the Tomb of King Mausolus, which is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, along with Bodrum Castle - a fine example of architecture from the period of the Crusades.
The small town of Yalikavak is becoming ever more popular as an alternative resort to Bodrum. Yalikavak still supports a thriving fishing industry and the restaurants around the picturesque harbour offer a wide selection of fresh fish every day. There are many shops in the traffic free centre, and everyweek the town hosts one of the biggest fruit, vegetable and clothing markets on the Bodrum Peninsula. The small harbour is surrounded by restaurants and bars, and while there is the occasional disco bar, the general atmosphere is quiet, unhurried and relaxed.
Gumusluk is on the southern tip of the Bodrum Peninsula, about 10 minutes by car or shuttle bus from Sunset Village. The village is a lively fishing port, with more than a dozen fish restaurants along the sea front, offering a wide variety of locally caught seafood. Once the ancient city of Myndos, the village is now in a conservation
area, meaning no cars are allowed in the centre.
Both Yalikavak and Gumusluk are a short drive from our Sunset Village resort which offers exceptional sea views and high quality, well priced properties.
